Dr. Ivan Velasco and his wife Adriana, who work for Willis ISD were in San Antonio for a competition with their daughter were among the injured in the robbery and shooting inside the Rolling Oaks Mall in San Antonio Sunday. One of the robbers was shot by a person who had a CHL. Another person who tried to help was shot and killed by the robber. A second person who tried to stop the robbery at Kay Jeweler’s shot the robber. After the shooting started one of the robbers fled the opposite direction through the mall, shooting as he ran. The robber who was shot was in critical condition. Police arrested the second robber late last night. Dr. Velasco is an Assistant Principal at Willis High School and Mrs. Velasco is an Assistant Principal at Meador Elementary. She was formerly with Splendora ISD.
