MONTGOMERY COUNTY RECORDS SECOND FATAL ACCIDENT FOR THE WEEKEND

Ricardo Ostiguion, 26, of Conroe passed away from injuries he suffered in the Sunday morning accident on FM 1314 at Bert Brown.  Ostiguion, who was southbound when for unknown reasons he crossed the center line, hit a set of mailboxes, continued south in the ditch striking a marquee sign belonging to a church, the stop sign. His vehicle then continued over Bert Brown where struck a utility pole, splitting it and then a fence. When he struck the cyclone fence the top rail of the fence came through the windshield, the steering wheel and struck Ostiguion in the chest.

River Plantation Fire Department and Montgomery County Hospital District responded to the scene.  Life Flight was requested to the scene but due to the time frame of waiting for the  helicopter and the close proximity to Hermann Hospital Woodlands he was transported there in critical condition.

His passenger Jose Diaz, 22 also of Bryan suffered minor injuries.

According to family members they two were visiting family in Bennette Estates and left approximately 2 a.m. When the accident occurred they were approximately five miles north of that location heading south just after 3 a.m.

Sgt. Barnhill stated that they believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
