After 4-years of citations, the Montgomery County Health Department moved in Friday morning on Wood Drive in New Caney to clean the property. Rick Jordan with the Montgomery County Health Department said the $12,000 cost was funded through a grant. The contractor started this morning using heavy equipment to load what is estimated to be at least 16-roll-off containers of debris collected by several residents of the property. The property had a travel trailer, home, mobile home, and a tree house all of which had been or are occupied by individuals who do not own the property. At this point, the clean up was the first step. From there a lien will be placed on the property for the cost of the cleanup. Following that the property could eventually be foreclosed on by the county and sold at auction to cover the costs. There is no power or running water to the property. Neighbors driving by were thankful something was finally getting done to clean the area up.
