As many have noticed MCPR has been covering more Houston and North Harris County Crimes than before. We had been running Harris County Police Reporter for the Harris County area and Montgomery County Police Reporter for here in the county. After speaking to law enforcement, we have learned that many of the suspects which have been involved in incidents in Harris County also find their way to Montgomery and surrounding counties to prey on additional victims. Over the past few months some that have been involved in cases there were recognized by our readers here, some of those readers were victims. We have also learned it has been going the other way also. We try to get as much detail of crimes and suspects as possible. Sometimes that is not always the case. A lot of victims are so traumatized that they recall little of the suspect but can describe a weapon with great detail. Many think that just because video is in an area that it is available. Most of the time it is not. Management in many cases has to be called to respond to the location to access the video. This can sometimes be hours or even the next day. Montgomery County Crime Stoppers and Crime Stoppers from around the area usually post a crime of the week.
An HPD Robbery Detective has taken a step further. The 20-year veteran who never has had any experience with a website has created on for the Houston Police Department. The hopes were the public to be not just better informed but to possibly help to identify suspects on robberies. It could be someone they ran into, went to school with, friends of the family or even family members. Crime Stoppers helps by putting up reward money from donations for persons who supply information leading to arrests on FELONY cases.
Please take some time to check out the HPD site and check it often. Also, report any suspicious activity top your local police department immediately. Calling a day or two later does very little. If an officer can make contact with a suspicious person before they leave the area, chances are if they were involved in a crime, you, the person who reported it may have saved someone else’s life or property.
