NWS Update: Strong to severe storms possible tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cold front are expected to enter the Brazos Valley around midnight tonight and move offshore early Wednesday morning. Some of these storms will have the potential to become strong to severe, with the main hazard being strong damaging winds. These storms should weaken as they advance south but could slow and bring heavy rainfall into Wednesday morning.
A line of severe thunderstorms will develop later tonight ahead of a cold front. These storms should arrive at College Station as early as 11 pm, reaching the Houston Metro area by 2 am and later arriving at the coast as early as 4 am. The primary threat from this line of storms will be strong, damaging winds. However, small hail and the possibility of isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. The highest impacts will be seen north of the I-10 corridor in areas under a slight to enhanced risk of severe weather depicted in the graphics below.
