There is a Slight Risk of severe weather for northern portions of SE TX this afternoon and tonight. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible for locations generally along and north of a line from Caldwell to Huntsville to Groveton. Locally heavy rain is also possible.
Daytime heating and weak disturbances from the west will help to produce isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon across SE TX. The best rain chances will be over the northern counties. Some storms could be strong. Later this afternoon, widespread showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop over North Texas and begin moving south into SE TX this evening. Some of these storms could be strong to severe. Primary threats will likely be hail and damaging winds. These storms could weaken as they move south toward the coast through the overnight hours.
