Off-duty deputy in critical condition after being shot in north Harris County, sheriff says

An off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy is in critical condition after he was shot in a grocery store parking lot, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. Medics with ESD 11 performed CPR on the deputy for close to 30-minutes before transporting him to Houston Northwest Hospital.

The shooting happened at 8:40 pm Thursday night in the 2900 block of FM 1960 at Aldine Westfield.
According to Gonzalez, after witnessing a “criminal act,” (catalytic converter theft)the off-duty deputy approached the suspects, who then opened fire on him. Gonzalez said the deputy was able to fire back. Authorities said the two suspects involved were shot and took themselves to Houston Northwest Hospital on FM 1960. They remain hospitalized and are stable, according to officials.
