The Texas Rangers, with the assistance of the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred today.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Hicks Loop in Cleveland in regards to a suicidal person call. The preliminary investigation indicates that Deputies arrived on scene to find a male subject armed with a knife. Deputies negotiated with the male for an extended period of time in an effort to get him to put down the knife, but he refused. Less-lethal weapons were used but were unsuccessful in subduing the suspect. He then displayed a bladed weapon, and became aggressive towards the Deputies, when he was shot.
Deputies made sure the weapon was no longer a threat and performed lifesaving aid until medical personnel arrived on the scene.
The 26-year-old suspect, from Cleveland, Texas, was transported to a local hospital in Conroe. At this time, the suspect’s medical condition is unknown.
This is an active investigation, and additional details are unavailable at this time.
