Commissioner Metts has crews working into the night repairing Old Houston Road. The road which partially washed out Sunday due to water will be repaired most likely by Tuesday night. Currently, crews are extending and cleaning ditches down Old Houston toward SH 242 to alleviate the water standing and flooding the roadway. In addition, crews were able to locate several pipes under the roadway which had been completely stopped up. With two Gradeall working, they have been able to dig several hundred feet of ditches on Monday. In addition Commissioner, Mett’s has changed the policy on crews having to drive long distances to dump the dirt. As long as the property is not in the floodplain, and the landowner signs a waiver allowing Precinct 4 to dump crews will dump if close by. Monday landowners with hundreds of yards distance from the project gladly accepted the fill. Once the water is drained away they will make permanent repairs which should be completed by then. Deputies are stationed at both ends of Old Houston, one at SH 242 another at Village Way diverting traffic. This due to the number of motorists that disregarded the barricades Sunday. VERY IMPORTANT-CISD RESUMES ON TUESDAY. CISD TRANSPORTATION HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE CLOSURE. PARENTS AND STUDENTS TRAVELING TO AND FROM SCHOOL NEED TO ALLOW EXTRA TIME FOR THE DRIVE AROUND.
