AMERGY BANK IN SPRING-ATTEMPTED ATM THEFT
Just after 230am Thursday morning, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a person attempting to break into an ATM at the drive-thru of the Amergy Bank at 1000 Spring Cypress. A patrol unit was just blocks from the call and responded within a minute. The deputy arrived and witnessed a green Dodge truck pull out of the driveway and head east on Spring Cypress. As the deputy attempted the traffic stop the vehicle fled east on Spring Cypress, crossing the tracks and traveling north on West Hardy, a dead-end road. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled into the woods. Multiple units surrounded the area and a K-9 Unit deployed his dog. After almost an hour of searching the area, much of which was underwater, just south of the Grand Parkway, the search was called off. The Dodge truck was a stolen truck from Dallas. The ATM at the bank suffered extensive damage as the suspect attempted to get into it using a cutting torch. Most of the damage was to the case and electronics as the safe itself suffered little damage.

NORTH MONTGOMERY COUNTY FIRE MORE THAN EXPECTED
Sunday night North Montgomery County Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on Ben Wiggins Road. Units arrived on scene and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. However with two engines in the driveway of the home some 250 yards from the road, the driveway gave way to the wet soil below it. After several hours work, Sunday night Roxanne with Milstead Heavy Duty was able to retrieve one truck which was only about 100-feet from the road. The other truck, which was also sunk to the body was a far more time-consuming project. Commissioner Metts responded to the scene Sunday night and determined what was needed to remove the truck. Early Monday morning Precinct 4 crews arrived with several laminated wooden mats. Using a back how on loan from Martin Realty, the crews were able to lay them over part of the driveway. Once that was completed, firefighters used their own skills and equipment to raise the body up out of the mud enough to hook a heavy-duty wrecker to it. With the newer trucks, just pulling it out would have damaged lower cabinets, steps, exhaust and other components. Chris with Milstead Wrecker then started to winch the truck out. The soft soil continued to break away under the fire truck. Three times the heavy-duty entered and exited the drive with no effect. However, as the fire truck was pulled back it constantly broke the surface and sank again and again. The truck was finally brought onto the wooden mats and was able to exit with a small amount of cosmetic damage. Metts explained that due to the fire truck having the two axles compared to the multi-axle wrecker, the load difference made the truck go down in the very saturated surface. However, with life and property in danger they had to get to the fire. Both trucks are now back in service with two very tired crews.

COMMISSIONER METTS CLEARS OLD HOUSTON FLOODING PROBLEM
Commissioner Metts has crews working into the night repairing Old Houston Road. The road which partially washed out Sunday due to water will be repaired most likely by Tuesday night. Currently, crews are extending and cleaning ditches down Old Houston toward SH 242 to alleviate the water standing and flooding the roadway. In addition, crews were able to locate several pipes under the roadway which had been completely stopped up. With two Gradeall working, they have been able to dig several hundred feet of ditches on Monday. In addition Commissioner, Mett’s has changed the policy on crews having to drive long distances to dump the dirt. As long as the property is not in the floodplain, and the landowner signs a waiver allowing Precinct 4 to dump crews will dump if close by. Monday landowners with hundreds of yards distance from the project gladly accepted the fill. Once the water is drained away they will make permanent repairs which should be completed by then. Deputies are stationed at both ends of Old Houston, one at SH 242 another at Village Way diverting traffic. This due to the number of motorists that disregarded the barricades Sunday. VERY IMPORTANT-CISD RESUMES ON TUESDAY. CISD TRANSPORTATION HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE CLOSURE. PARENTS AND STUDENTS TRAVELING TO AND FROM SCHOOL NEED TO ALLOW EXTRA TIME FOR THE DRIVE AROUND.
