Just before 9:30 p.m., Conroe Police responded to a call for a shooting on Piney Point Drive in southeast Conroe. As the first units arrived they saw a Toyota pickup in the intersection of FM 3083 and Piney Point. Two males were seen heading toward the woods on foot. The officer ordered them to the ground at which time one of the two threw a pistol to the ground and both surrendered.
What police have determined at this point of the investigation was that there was a large group of young people at a residence on Piney Point. As the brothers drove by in their vehicle shots rang out. The truck was hit several times. The driver of the truck fired at least one shot through the windshield hitting 23-year-old Matthew David Hill who resides at 1200 South Frazier. He had been with the large group. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The subdivision of Piney Point was sealed off as investigators collected evidence. Residents who attempted to return to the one street in the subdivision were forced to park and the Exxon as the street was closed.
As of 4 am Conroe Police are still interviewing witnesses and suspects. The Montgomery County District Attorneys Office is assisting.
According to Conroe Deputy Police Chief Russell Reynolds said even though the two groups lived in the same subdivision they did not know each other.
Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
