Just after midnight Saturday night a 2003 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 28-year-old Conroe resident was south bound on Crocket Martin Road, As he and his passenger, a 25-year-old male approached the BNSF Railroad crossing , the arms were down and signals operating. The driver went around the arms and was struck by a westbound train traveling at 45 miles per hour.
MCHD, Caney Creek Fire Department and Cut and Shoot Fire Department responded to the scene. The driver was dead on the scene. The passenger was able to get out on his own and suffered a scratch on his elbow.
DPS investigated the crash. It is believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash. The names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Judge Spikes ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. Crocket Martin reopened at 4:00 am.
As they opened the crossing they were notified of a vehicle stuck on the tracks , two crossing west of the incident. Deputies responded to FM 1485 at Lake Wildwood and found an intoxicated driver on the tracks. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail
