At 112am Saturday the alarm company called a neighbor who was listed as a contact of Robert and Frances Summerford. That neighbor was overseas and suggested they call the fire department instead. That wasn’t necessary as Summerford was already on the phone with 911. Champions Area Fire Department responding along with Cypress Creek EMS. The report came in as a house fire at 13107 Lookout Mountain Drive in the Champions Subdivision. Fire crews arrived at a two-story inferno. Firefighters immediately went to work and located both Robert Summerford, 80, and his wife Frances Summerford, 84. CPR was unsuccessful. They then located their son Larry Phillips, 60. All three did not survive. Early this morning family and friends went through the home finding photos, the only memories they had. This is not the first tragedy for the family. Several years ago, they lost a daughter who fell in Mexico in a hiking accident and another beautiful daughter to cancer. The home is a total loss. The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
