Just after midnight a resident of an apartment complex on FM 1960 heard his Ford F-250 diesel start in the parking lot. He immediately ran to the door as the truck was leaving. Lawrence got into his other vehicle and gave chase while on the phone with 911. The truck pulled into the Flying J parking lot on I-45 at Richey. As it attempted to leave, Lawrence blocked it in. At that point two black males leaned out the window telling Lawrence to get out of their way. Unknown if they were armed, he complied but stayed on with 911. Lawrence chased them to West Mt. Houston and I—45 where Harris County Sheriff’s Office units attempted to stop the truck. It fled on Mt. Houston, continuing on SH 249 to West Montgomery and then traveled south on West Montgomery. Just before reaching Mt. Houston again they crashed into the woods and fled on foot. One was taken into custody immediately, the second the K-9 located and took into custody. Lawrence said his steering column is destroyed along with damage to the front end and a rear tire.
