PAIR BUSTED IN SPLENDORA DEALING DOPE AND GUNS

On Friday, August 6, 2021, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics/Interdiction Unit received information in reference on two subjects identified as Cecil Nathaniel Gray W/M 5-16-1990 of Kaufman, Texas, and a Hispanic male that was only identified as

. The information received was that they were involved in the distribution of marijuana, methamphetamines, and weapons from a travel trailer located at the Splendora Strong RV Park located at 321 FM2090, Splendora, Liberty County, Texas.
Deputies also learned that Gray had an outstanding warrant through the Texas Pardons and Parole for a previous drug offense conviction. At approximately 5:00 pm, deputies with the Interdiction Unit initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that Gray and Olivares were operating near the RV Park on FM2090, while other units made contact with a female occupant at the travel trailer. When investigators made contact with the sole female occupant of the travel trailer, investigators could detect the strong odor of raw marijuana coming from the trailer. During the traffic stop, Gray provided written consent to search the travel trailer where investigators recovered approximately 189 pounds of bulk marijuana packaged for resale along with approximately 39 grams of suspected crystal meth, 3-semi-auto handguns, 2-semi-auto AR rifles with high capacity magazines, and 1-AK semi-auto rifle that had a high capacity drum magazine attached. One of the AR-style rifles was found to be considered a prohibited weapon due to the barrel only being 8 3/4″ in length and not 16″.
Through the investigation, it was learned that Olivares had previously been deported from the US back to Mexico. Beaumont ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) was contacted and Federal charges will be pursued through the Eastern District on both subjects for the weapon charges. Beaumont HSI (Homeland Security Investigations) was also contacted in reference to Olivares and a detainer was placed on Olivares and additional pending Federal charges for re-entry into the country will be applied. Gray and Olivares were charged with the following state charges until Federal charges are accepted:
