The wreckage of a single-engine Cirrus SR-20 aircraft with four people aboard was discovered about 9:20 a.m. Sunday in some trees about a half-mile southeast of Navasota Municipal Airport. The aircraft originally departed from David Wayne Hooks Airport in Houston at 8:17 a.m. local time.
The plane was spotted by the pilot of another aircraft in the traffic pattern at the Navasota airport. Law enforcement officials then located the wreckage.
Please contact local law enforcement for information about the condition of the occupants. FAA investigators are on their way and the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation.
The FAA and NTSB do not release names of aircraft occupants. We defer to local officials, who provide that information once identities are confirmed and relatives are notified.
