POSSIBLE SEVERE WEATHER IN AREA TONIGHT

Overview:  Showers and thunderstorms will move into the region from the west tonight, expanding in coverage across the region through the Wednesday morning commute. Rain is expected to shift south and focus along the coast from the late morning through the afternoon.

Timing: Around midnight – 7 PM Wednesday

Primary Hazard: Locally Heavy Rain (1-2″ totals with localized 3-5″ amounts possible)

Secondary:        Damaging Wind Gusts

                          Large Hail

                          Frequent Cloud to Ground Lightning

                          Isolated Tornadoes

Location:           Highest rainfall totals focusing generally south of I-10

Marginal Risk of severe thunderstorms along and south of a Madisonville to

                          Livingston line

Confidence: Moderate – Southeast Texas will see rain overnight, but which areas will see the highest rain totals will be driven by how far inland a weak frontal boundary stalls. This may be across the coastal counties or closer to the I-10 corridor.

Outlook:  Dry conditions are expected Thursday and Friday, with another storm system expected to bring widespread rainfall again this weekend.
