Just before 5PM high winds and heavy rain hit South Montgomery County. The residents of the Chateau Woods area were especially hard hit. Large trees were blown over into cars, power lines and even homes. One home which was under construction suffered major damage when approximately a seventy foot pine tree came crashing through the roof.

Elsewhere neighbors surveyed the damage. Almost one hundred feet of fence was destroyed at one home.

A resident reported the winds were so intense that it blew the doors of her fireplace open sending ashes out of the fireplace.

One resident was working in his shop when the rains hit, “It was raining so hard everything turned white, then rain started coming up into the soffets and into the shop”.

Power crews could be seen in the area restoring power to several homes.
