Congratulations to Dep. Dartez – Montgomery County Employee of the Month! Constable Rowdy Hayden wrote: Dep. Dartez started with our office 1 year ago, since then he has made a big impact on the residents of EMC. Dep. Dartez comes from the fire service, but as many do, wanted to come over to the police side so that he could be his own hero. He currently patrols our contract neighborhood, Riverwalk, and has become a favorite with the residents. His nomination for Employee of the Month comes from his diligent efforts during the high water rescue missions of Imelda. Dep. Dartez lives close to Alvin, TX, over an hour away from the EMC area. On the morning of Sept. 19th at 6:11 am, our Swift Water Rescue Team was called into action. Dep. Dartez started his journey through the storm, north, to East Montgomery County. The roads were already flooding between here and there but he arrived and went to work. After hours and hours of work in the floodwaters, the rescues slowed down and we were able to begin to release deputies to return home, however Dep. Dartez, along with some other deputies couldn’t make it home. The floodwaters, though falling, still flooded the multiple paths he needed to take; Dep. Dartez slept in his vehicle that night all-the-while still listening to the radio. When a call went out in the neighborhood he was assigned, he took care of it knowing that everyone else on the street was still dealing with flood and traffic issues along with all the other calls for service. I’d like to recognize Dep. Tyler Dartez for his service to not only his contract neighborhood but also to the flooded victims of Tropical Storm Imelda and the residents of EMC. Thank you, Tyler for your efforts.
