Quick response puts auto theft suspect behind bars

SOUTH MONTGOMERY COUNTY – Around 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office dispatch broadcast information that a black Dodge pickup was stolen from the parking lot of St. Luke’s Hospital in The Woodlands, and that a white Pontiac Grand Am was involved.

Deputies located both vehicles near driving Valley Wood and I-H 45. The Grand Am stopped for the deputies but the stolen vehicle continued southbound increasing speed. The two occupants of the car were arrested.

Deputies pursued the stolen truck as it turned west onto Pruitt Road and at Budde Rd the suspect drove through a wooded area and then turned back east toward Interstate 45.

The suspect drove into a field south of the Texaco fuel station at 24627 I-45 and into the parking lot through some bushes.

The suspect vehicle went through the bushes and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle landing on the parked car’s hood. The suspect exited the vehicle and ran on foot. Oak Ridge Police Department assisted with capturing the suspect and may file additional charges.

The suspect in the stolen truck was identified as Michael Blake Stanick, 22, of Houston. He was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity/theft; resisting arrest/search/transport; and evading arrest with a motor vehicle (felony).

Stanick was paroled in April.
