Search Continues for Missing Toddler

As of 9:15 p.m., the search continued for 2-year-old Devin Davis, who wandered away from his family’s Liberty County home this afternoon. An Amber Alert has been issued.

The toddler is described as about 2 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 40 lbs., with red/auburn hair and blue eyes.

The family recently moved to Sam Houston Lake Estates from the east coast. Their home sits in a horseshoe shape where part of the Trinity River runs around the sides. The location is also surrounded by a heavily wooded area, which has been the subject of a major search effort for several hours.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is heading up the search operation and are receiving assistance from multiple agencies in Liberty and Montgomery County.

As of this writing, in addition to those previously mentioned, Montgomery County Search and Rescue has joined the effort, along with members of Needham Fire Department, using an 8-wheel ATV.

No civilian volunteers are sought to assist in the search at this time. The terrain is treacherous and untrained searchers could easily become injured or lost and require search personnel to take time and attention away from the search for Devin Davis.

Anyone with information regarding the missing child should contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500.

MCPR is on-scene. Updates will be posted as they become available.
