The second burglary within the week at the same residence at 2189 FM 2797, in south Liberty County, sent 54-year-old Paul Pigg to Herman Hospital by Life Flight with a gun-shot wound to his back. According to Sheriff’s Patrol Sgt. Michelle Deshotel, homeowner Joshua Fields home was burglarized earlier in the week and several items were stolen. At approximately 11:30 pm late Tuesday night, March 5th the homeowner observed Pigg with some of his property that was being stolen from a storage building on his property. At some point, Pigg was shot in the back with what is thought to be a .380 caliber semi-automatic.
After being shot, Pigg fled to his residence on Private Road 6444 where a caller at that location called the Sheriff’s Office and Pigg was picked up by Life Flight at the Kenefick Community Building helipad. According to Lead Investigator Steve Rasberry, Pigg was flown to Herman Hospital in Houston with the gun-shot wound to the back but his status is uncertain at this time.
At this early stage of the investigation, few details are known but the investigation is continuing with possible criminal charges pending against Paul Pigg.
