At approximately 8:40 pm on March 26th, Juan Esparza was driving a Toyota Sienna minivan eastbound in the 2800 block of West Mount Houston Road. Mr. Esparza’s wife and four children were passengers inside the vehicle. Their 10 year old son was sitting in the third row on the left and their 7 month old child was being held by one of the occupants. Rijan Growe was driving a BMW SUV eastbound behind the minivan. Mr. Esparza intended to turn into a “Go Kart” business located on the north side of the roadway. Mr. Esparza slowed down and began to turn from the inside lane of travel as opposed to turning left from the provided two way left turn lane. The front right of the BMW struck the back left of the Toyota minivan. The 10 year passenger and 7 month old passenger of the minivan were both critically injured during the crash and transported to the hospital. The 10 year old died shortly after arrival and the 7 month old was in critical condition . Early Monday morning the 7 month old died from the injuries she sustained during this collision. This case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
