Potential for severe weather still exists tonight with a line of showers and thunderstorms developing along an advancing cold front.
Right now the main threat for severe weather is north of the area for this afternoon and evening. This is due to the cap of warm air aloft which is limiting thunderstorm development over the area. A cold front will push into the area with a line of storms forming. Isolated strong to severe storms will be possible along the line. Main threats will be hail and damaging straight line winds. It is too soon to tell if a severe weather watch will be issued for the Houston/Galveston forecast area, but we will continue to monitor conditions with SPC. Below are graphics showing the current watches and expected timing of storms for tonight.
