SOUTH MONTGOMERY COUNTY- Police are searching for an unidentified gunman who shot a local business owner around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night in the parking area of the Parkside Apartments, located at 10600 Six Pines Drive in The Woodlands.
The victim, 40-year-old Mukomer “Manny” Bekiri, arrived at the complex with passenger, 39-year-old Alicia Leach and parked his yellow Porsche in a slot near the ungated entrance. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, when the pair emerged from the car, a man approached them and “demanded money at gunpoint.”
Bekiri and Leach complied with the gunman’s demand but Bekiri was shot anyway, with one bullet striking his abdomen. MCHD radio transmissions at the time of transport indicated there was an entry and an exit wound. Leach was not harmed.
The shooter fled on foot through the complex and disappeared into the night.

As of this writing, the gunman remains at large. He is described as “a thin black male in his early 20’s between 5’5” and 5’7” wearing a gray pullover hooded sweatshirt and baggy pants.”
Detectives with the MCSO Major Crimes Unit and MCSO Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene and the investigation is continuing.
