South County man arrested for bank robberies

THE WOODLANDS- Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on Tuesday afternoon in connection with at least two of the recent bank robberies in The Woodlands, and it was not someone from a surrounding county, as many beleived.

Richard Brent Prieto, 24, of The Woodlands is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.
In a press release, the MCSO stated a lengthy investigation and eye-witness identification led to the arrest. Prieto was taken into custody during a traffic stop.

He is the suspect in the robberies that occurred on Feb. 11 at Wachovia Bank in the 10000 block of Woodlands Parkway and on Feb. 20 at the Chase Bank in the 8200 block of Kuykendahl.

Prieto is currently held without bond in the Montgomery County Jail.

The investigation into is ongoing into any possible connection Prieto may have with other robberies
