Upon their arrival they encountered heavy fire conditions throughout a mobile home. The couple that owned the home had escaped with the assistance of family members and neighbors, but their special needs son, reported to be in his fifties, was unable to escape and was found deceased by firefighters.
Initial reports indicate that the victim’s mother and father were asleep in their bedroom and the victim was asleep in his bedroom, when his parents awoke to fire in their bedroom. The father and other family members who lived nearby, along with neighbors were able to pull his wife from the home, but were unable to reach the victim due to the smoke and flames.
The female was rescued suffering from serious burns and was transported initially to Conroe Regional Medical Center, stabilized and then transferred to the Hermann Hospital burn unit where she remains in critical condition. Her husband was treated for injuries at the scene.
The home was destroyed by the fire and Deputy Fire Marshals have been on scene all night and are continuing their investigation today.
