Splendoa Fire Department responded to a house fire on Splenwood Drive just to the east of town. On arrival they observed heavy fire coming out of the house and requested additional help. Cut and Shoot and New Caney Fire Department then responded also. As temperatures dropped firefighters continued to get to the seat of the fire. The home was built with wood, however also was covered in asphalt shingles, a layer of insulation board and vinyl siding. The main part of the fire seemed to be toward the rear of the home. Firefighters did recover a gas can under the home which was empty. It is believed it had just blown under the house prior to the fire.
The residents were not home at the time of the fire.
The Montgomery County Fire Marshalls Office is investigating.
