Just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, EMC Fire Department was dispatched to a mobile home fire in the Splendora Mobile Home Park on Business 59, which is just one block north of the fire station.
Within minutes, the first EMC fire units arrived and reported heavy fire conditions. Caney Creek was called in to assist with a tanker, and Porter Fire Dept. was put on standby to provide coverage in the event of another area fire.
The fire was quickly contained, however, the heat caused damage to a neighboring home. One resident suffered minor burns but refused medical treatment. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
