SPLENDORAS NEW POLICE DEPARTMENT-TAKE THE TOUR AND SEE THE NEW DRONE PROGRAM

Many changes have been made to the Splendora Police Department in the past years. A new station, new vehicles, new equipment, and the all-new drone program. The new drone program is handled by two officers. Lt. Alex Hadych and Officer Ray Hardin. After Hurricane Harvey and the many rescues, they started to look for alternatives. The drone selected will put eyes in the sky to search for suspects that have decided to run. It has been used to assist fire on several grass fires. The FLIR system can locate lost persons in the woods and even drop rescue equipment to a person cut off by high water and flooding. Over the past few floods, several drivers had driven into deep waters. In most instances, the fire department would have to respond with boats to check for occupants. With a drone, they can fly over the vehicle and look right in. Both officers have been licensed by the FAA.
