Friday evening several ambulances transported patients from the Cleveland Regional Hospital to other hospitals. We attempted several calls, all of which were never returned. “Law enforcement sources tell us there are no patients on the floors or rooms. The emergency room is the only functioning area of the building. Hospital employees are hoping to find out next week about the status of their jobs.”
Carrie Williams with DSHS sent this statement: “The hospital indicated to us yesterday that it was scaling back its operation. I’m not yet able to determine whether the hospital has since notified us of closure.
With the rooms empty, patients still came in and out of the emergency room.
One employee said there also seems to be so sort of structural problems with the building as you can hear what sounds like pipes banging in the walls.
A portable boiler was on a trailer outside the hospital on the street with hoses running to the mechanical room.
