A high speed stolen car chase, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hours, on Hwy. 105 in mid-Liberty County, ended in the arrest of Amber Lynn Lester, DOB 10/05/86 of the Silsbee area. The Friday morning chase at approximately 11:am involved several law enforcement units and as Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy Ivan Gonzales described it, it was a team effort to make the stop and arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office was originally notified by an electronic company who said they had a report of a stolen vehicle traveling on Hwy. 105 and requested assistance to stop the vehicle. When Deputy Gonzales and Pct. 5 Constables Office tried to stop the vehicle, Lester sped up to a high rate of speed and came close to striking two law enforcement vehicles as well as two citizens vehicles. When Lester continued the attempted escape, her car was mechanically shut down allowing the Deputies to pull Lester from the car and place her under arrest.
Sheriff’s Deputy Ivan Gonzales charged Amber Lester with Evading Arrest Detention with a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Use Of A Motor Vehicle. Gonzales placed Lester in the Liberty County Jail.
