STOLEN EQUIPMENT RECOVERED IN LIBERTY COUNTY

On May 4, 2015 Corporal Kevin Theiss was advised by Texas Parks and Wildlife Warden Randy Button that he had information that a person who was living in a residence located on CR 2063 was trying to sell a Pontoon boat. Warden Button also advised Corporal Theiss that the person was also trying to sell a Polaris Ranger. A few minutes after speaking with Warden Button, Deputy George Daniels informed Corporal Theiss that he had taken a theft call stating that a Pontoon boat had been stolen. The deputy advised that there were also other items that were stolen from the residence.

Corporal Theiss drove down CR 2063 and observed a Pontoon boat parked behind a wood framed house. Warden Button and Deputy Daniels both responded to assist Corporal Theiss. The law enforcement officers heard an ATV approaching the residence. A white male, identified as Billy Ray Brandon, dob 11/5/1979 drove up to the residence. Brandon stated that he lived at the residence and that the boat was his.

He was informed that the boat was stolen. Brandon was read the Miranda Warning advising him of his rights and he was arrested. There were several pieces of equipment in his driveway. It was also discovered that the Polaris Ranger that he was riding on was reported stolen out of Chambers County. There was another Polaris Ranger that was seized because the vin number had been altered. Texas Department of Public Safety Auto Theft Task Force will come and help identify the owner. Other stolen items that were recovered were a riding lawnmower, two stolen generators, an air compressor, an outboard motor and a 20’ lowboy trailer.

LCSO was notified by Chambers County that a Polaris Ranger was stolen from their county that matched the first numbers of the altered vin number of the other Polaris Ranger. DPS will confirm that number. At this time, Billy Ray Brandon has been charged with (1) Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle – State Jail Felony, and (2) Theft of Property – Third Degree Felony. Other charges may be filed.

Once again, working together with citizens and other law enforcement agencies has helped solve a crime. Thank you to everyone.
