stolen guns recovered in cleveland

On Tuesday, August 30, 2011, Cleveland Police Department received an anonymous tip which led officers and detectives to a vacant house in the 1900 block of Center Street in Cleveland, Texas. The tipster told police there were several stolen guns stashed at that location.

When officers arrived at the location it was found to be a vacant residence. Officers were able to locate an owner of the property who gave CPD officers consent to search the residence for the stolen guns.

While searching the location 13 rifles and shotguns, 1 handgun, and a metal box containing several rounds of ammo were found inside. Along with the guns and ammo, 1 flat screen TV, and 1 western saddle were recovered.

It is unconfirmed at this time, but officers believe the stolen items recovered, with the exception of the saddle, were taken in burglaries from the Tarkington area. The recovered saddle was reported stolen in a CPD case.

Officers obtained additional information which included the names of several subjects who have been seen going into the vacant residence.

Until positive identification can be made on those individuals, CPD is not releasing the names given. Anyone having information pertaining to the burglaries or any other crime, please contact the Cleveland Police Department “Tip Line” at 281-592-0800
