Suspect arrested and convicted in animal cruelty

On February 26, 2017, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 25650 Interstate 45, Dakota Canyon Apartments, in reference to an animal cruelty case.  Upon arrival, Deputies learned that the suspect, Cody Tyler Tombros was seen throwing a dog out of the front door of a second story apartment and physically jumping with both feet on top of the dog.  Mr. Tombros then threw the dog off the second story balcony onto the ground below.  During the investigation, it was learned that Mr. Tombros had abused the dog previously.  Mr. Tombros, was arrested on scene and charged with Felony Cruelty to Animals.

The dog, an approximate 6 month old pit bull puppy was transported to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter and received care but has some permanent bone damage although his overall prognosis is good.

Since his arrest Mr. Tombros has been incarcerated in the Montgomery County Jail.  As part of a plea agreement with the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Tombros just received one year incarceration In the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and has also relinquished ownership of the dog.  A home has been found for the dog and he is to be adopted today.
