A suspect is in custody for the Dec. 30 stabbing death of a Shepherd man at a popular Huntsville nightclub.
Cody Ray Walters, 21, is charged with causing the death of 22-year-old John Wayne McCrary.
Walters, is also a Shepherd resident and surrendered to authorities at the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday.
Huntsville Police continue to investigate the Dec. 30 stabbing death of a San Jacinto County man at a popular nightclub in the college town.
According to Huntsville Police, McCrary was stabbed multiple times in the parking lot of Shenanigan’s nightclub at 1548 11th Street in Huntsville and died in surgery hours later at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston.
The motive for the stabbing is unknown.
Police records show Walters’ only prior was a 2006 misdemeanor assault charge, to which he pleaded no contest and received a deferred sentence.
