Suspects jailed in beating and robbery of elderly man

PATTON VILLAGE- A Hispanic male parolee has been named as the second suspect in the July 3 brutal beating and robbery of a 66-year-old man at his Patton Village home.

Police Chief Joe Schultea said an arrest warrant was issued on Monday for 24-year-old Carlo Alejandro Gonzalez, of Houston, who is charged with aggravated robbery. Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Tray Spikes set bond at $100,000.

The first suspect, 22-year-old Tanya D. Swarthout, was arrested on July 12 and indicted by a Montgomery County Grand Jury on aggravated robbery charges in connection the case last week. She remains held in the Montgomery County Jail, held on $100,000 bond.

Chief Schultea said according to the victim’s account, the attack and robbery occurred on July 3 around 9:30 p.m. in the 17300 block of Tram Road.

The man, whose name is withheld for his safety, told investigators he heard a car pull into his driveway and went onto his porch where he was met by a woman he identified as Swarthout. As they talked, a man now identified as Gonzalez got out of the car, walked up to the porch and attacked the resident with a club, striking the man’s head repeatedly and causing severe injuries.

Schultea said during the assault, Swarthout went into the man’s home and took the $600 he received from Social Security, along with his cell phone.

After an extensive investigation that included interviews with people in the areas of Splendora and North Houston, Patton Village Police assisted by crime analysts with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office developed information about Gonzalez, then presented witnesses with a photographic lineup. Gonzalez was positively identified, Schultea said.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Schultea and officers with the Houston Police Department tried to execute the warrant by going to Gonzalez’s house in North Houston, but he was not at home.

Carlo Alejandro Gonzalez is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 11 inches, weighing approximately 200 pounds, with a medium complexion and black hair.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of this suspect should contact Chief Schultea at (281)689-9511 or any Police Officer, and should not attempt to detain the suspect on their own. The suspect is an ex-convict and is currently on parole and is considered dangerous.

Gonzalez arrested

The second suspect has been arrested in the July 3 beating and robbery of an elderly Patton Village man at his home on Tram Road.

Carlo Alejandro Gonzalez, 24, was booked into the Harris County Jail on Wednesday on the outstanding Montgomery County warrant and a parole violation.
