SUSPICIOUS PERSON CALL LEADS TO THE RECOVERY OF A STOLEN VEHICLE AND THE ARREST OF TWO SUSPECTS

On December 2, 2019, deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 2000 block of Cool River Lane in reference to two suspicious males, one reported to be armed with a handgun. Upon deputies
arriving, they quickly located two males matching the description. One of the suspects reached for his waistband and fled on foot. The other suspect remained on the scene and was identified as Reginald Jones.
A perimeter was set and a Constable K-9 along with a DPS helicopter searched the area but were unable to locate the male who fled. The vehicle the suspects were reported to arrive in was located in the 2000 black of Cool River Lane and found to be listed as stolen through the Houston Police Department and linked to an Aggravated Robbery case. A female, identified as Shanerria Brown was located inside the vehicle, laid down in the driver’s seat with a blanket over her. After a thorough investigation, she admitted to driving the vehicle to the location and Reginald Jones admitted to riding in the back seat. They both stated they did not know the identity of the male who fled. “They were both arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Shanerria Brown was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and her bond was set at $1,000.00 out of the 338th District Court. Reginald Jones was charged with Criminal Trespass. His bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 4. The investigation continues to identify the additional evading suspect.” – Constable Mark Herman

And, interestingly enough, the charge against Brown was immediately tossed due to a finding that no probable cause existed. This happens FAR too often with arrests made by Precinct 4. This is not a new problem but rather one that dates back more than a few decades. They REALLY need to step up their training and quit taking rejects from other agencies…
