Early Saturday morning heavy rains descended on Fort Bend County in the Richmond area. Some areas reported heavy rain, large hail and extensive ground lightning. One of those bolts of lightning is believed to be the cause of an oil tank explosion in the center of several new subdivisions near Mason Road and Bellaire Blvd. Community firefighters battled the blaze for hours as high winds pushed the flames and heavy smoke. Ft. Bend deputies notified residents of a shelter in place as they sealed the area off. Flames could be seen from over 10 miles away.
