teacher arrested for improper relationship with a student

CodyDurdenOn April 4, 2011 a report of an improper teacher-student relationship was brought to the attention of the Huntsville Police Department’s School Resource Officer (SRO) Division. Huntsville Police SRO’s work within the various schools of, and are partners with, the Huntsville Independent School District. Upon investigation Officer Everett Harrell was able to develop enough information for a warrant to be issued for the suspect, Cody Wayne Durden (White Male, Date of birth: 05/04/1986), on the charge of Improper Relationship between an Educator/Student. Improper Relationship between an Educator/Student is a Felony of the second degree and is punishable by imprisonment from 2 to 20 years with the additional possibility of up to a $10,000 fine.

This morning (04/08/2011), upon being informed of a warrant being issued for his arrest, Mr. Durden turned himself in to Officer Harrell at the Walker County Jail. Mr. Durden was charged with Improper Relationship between an Educator/Student. At the time of this release a bond has not been set for Mr. Durden. Attached to this email is a booking photograph of Mr. Durden.

Without the full cooperation of the Huntsville Independent School District our investigation would not have been conducted as quickly and successfully. Shannon Duncan, the HISD Public Information Officer, advised that due to his arrest, Mr. Durden has been placed on Administrative Leave pending the outcome of this case.
