During the early morning hours of Saturday, August 12, 2017, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Timber Green Subdivision of Magnolia. An alert citizen reported seeing a Silver Infiniti driving through the neighborhood with occupants repeatedly getting in and out of the car.
Attentive Deputies found male suspects rummaging through a car in the 14100 Block of Timber Green Dr. As the Deputies approached, two teen males fled on foot – jumping fences and running through back yards in an attempt to evade capture. Deputies were able to locate and arrest Robert Kelley Jr., 19, of Magnolia, along with Nickolay O’Bannon, 20, of Magnolia. Recovered at the scene were electronic items from multiple vehicle burglaries. Kelley Jr. was charged with two counts of Burglary of a Vehicle and Evading Arrest. O’Bannon, was charged with two counts of Burglary of a Vehicle, Evading Arrest as well as Unlawfully Carrying of a Weapon. Also recovered inside the Infiniti G35, which is registered both to O’Bannon and a parent, was a handgun that had been stolen from a burglary if a vehicle that had been reported on August 11, 2017 where two handguns were stolen.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives continued the investigation throughout Saturday. Late Saturday Evening, a search warrant was executed in the 16500 block of Butera Road. During the search, it was determined that and a second handgun was traded for narcotics. An additional suspect, Zecheriah Wojcik, was taken into custody when the stolen pistol was recovered inside his boot. Wojcik was also charged with Possession of Marijuana.
We would also like to take a moment and remind all citizens the Sheriff’s Office Safety reminder of “T.L.C.”, T-take your keys, L-lock your car, C-conceal our hid valuables from site. Some recent firearm thefts occurred when they were left in unlocked vehicles. Firearm ownership is a cherished right, but with any right comes responsibility. Please exercise gun safety, never leave a weapon unsecure in a vehicle.
