TEEN WHO TEARS UP SOCCER FIELD RETURNS TO REPAIR IT WITH HELP OF FRIENDS

Just after 5 pm, several calls came into the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office from residents around Bull Sallas Park in East Montgomery County. All were reporting a male in a makeshift truck doing doughnuts on the soccer fields. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Precinct 4 Constables responded. They arrived to find the 19-year-old male still on the scene. He was arrested by Precinct 4 Deputies for Criminal Mischief on two counts. Criminal mischief $100 to $750 and $750 to $2500. Commissioner Metts responded to the scene and could only shake his head as to why someone would tear up county property, let alone a soccer field used almost daily and which had been recently reworked. Metts estimated damage to be over $2500 as dirt would have to be hauled in and spread and then reseeded. EMC Towing removed the vehicle from the scene. Mett’s said this is not the first time this has happened.

UPDATE: Saturday Josh showed up at the Soccer Fields equipped with pickup loads of dirt, wheelbarrows. grass seed and fertilizer. With the help of several friends and plenty of pizza, he and his friends repaired the fields to a condition better than before. They didn’t just repair the field both his damage and damage from prior but also fertilized it. Commissioner Metts said he is very appreciative and God Speed to them. He said most times something like that happens the culprit just goes on but that was not the case in this instance. Mett’s remembered his father once said, “When someone wrongs you, it is their duty to apologize. It is your duty to accept it”.
