TEXAS LITTER CONTROL PARTNERS WITH THE HOMELESS PET PLACEMENT LEAGUE TO OFFER FREE SPAY AND NEUTER SERVICES FOR CATS

SPRING, Texas, March 15, 2016 – Texas Litter Control and the Homeless Pet Placement League (HPPL) are partnering once again to provide free spay and neuter services for cats.  On Sunday, March 20, 2016, the “Fix a Feline for Free” Day will take place at the Texas Litter Control clinic.  65 cats will be altered for people who are on public assistance.  Cat owners who are on disability, Social Security, unemployment, or food stamps will be eligible to participate.  These free services are underwritten by the Petco Foundation through a grant to the Homeless Pet Placement League.

Pet owners who qualify simply need to book online via the website www.TexasLitterControl.org or call the Texas Litter Control clinic (832) 510-7622 to book an appointment for March 20th.  Cats must weigh at least 3 pounds.  Tame cats need to be in a carrier and feral (wild) cats need to come in traps. Pick up times will be assigned as cats are dropped off.  There is a limit of 2 cats per household and proof of public assistance or Social Security must be provided at check in.

“KITTEN SEASON IS HERE,” explains Deana Sellens, Executive Director of Texas Litter Control.  “If you have a female cat 5 months of age and it goes outside or has access to an unaltered male cat (even a brother), your cat will get pregnant!  Our local shelters need the community’s help in preventing accidental litters.”

Citizens who cannot participate or do not own a cat can still help by volunteering at the clinic as well as at offsite events for both Texas Litter Control or HPPL.   For more information on these organizations and what you can do, visit www.texaslittercontrol.org  or www.hppl.org.

Texas Litter Control is a not for profit, low cost spay/neuter and wellness clinic for cats and dogs.  TLC is open Monday through Saturday.  The clinic is located at 24950 Spring Ridge Drive, Bldg B, Spring, TX 77386.

HPPL, the Homeless Pet Placement League, is a local, non profit animal welfare organization that provides for the rehabilitation and permanent placement of stray and abandoned dogs and cats.  Working with the foster home concept, HPPL is able to help save animals that would not fit the criteria for shelter placement.
