Texas Ranger victim of hit and run

LCSO seeks help in finding hit-and-run driver

A Special Ranger and member of the Texas Cattleman’s Association was the victim of a hit-and-run in South Liberty County on Tuesday.

Jimmy Belt was southbound on FM 146 approaching FM 1413 when a northbound pickup truck turned left, directly in the path of Belt’s pickup. The two vehicles collided with Belt’s font end striking the passenger side rear of the other truck.

Witnesses said the truck that caused the crash then sped away, westbound on FM 1413.

Belt was transported to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown by a Liberty County EMS ground ambulance.

The actor vehicle is described as a 1980’s or early 1990’s model blue GMC, with the letter “G” missing from the logo. The truck has damage to rear passenger side.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500.
