He returned to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office and served as an Investigator, Captain, and Chief Deputy. He then left the Sheriff’s Office and pursued a career at Lone Star Uniforms in Houston working for many years with the owners Vernon and Corine Fox where they became lifelong friends.

Johnny had also worked during this period at the Todd Mission Police Department eventually becoming the Chief of Police a few years ago. Johnny had worked diligently as the Chief to modernize the police department, and to increase the number of officers bringing the agency into a professional vision driven police department to better serve the citizens of Todd Mission.

Johnny also oversaw security operations for the Texas Renaissance Festival where he has also worked for decades providing security. Johnny had a spirit of cooperative law enforcement and he and his officers had always assisted the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office with calls for service in area of the City of Todd Mission.

Johnny was also known to all for his sense of humor, a million dollar smile and his always professional image. He will be sorely missed by all and our thoughts and prayers of sympathy as well as our expressions of support are extended to his family and friends during this difficult time of mourning”.
