TRAFFIC ALERT-

1215PM-Interstate 45 northbound feeder at Long Street Road is closed. An 18-wheeler carrying ten five hundred gallon containers of Royal Purple oil attempted to make the curve on the feeder just south of Long Street Road. As he did the stainless steel containers which were not secured shifted causing the truck to roll on it’s side.

North Montgomery County Fire Department is on the scene. Precinct 2 Constables have the feeder closed just north of FM 1097. The exit ramp northbound for Long Street Road is also closed.

Milstead Heavy Duty is on the scene to upright the truck which is expected to be several hours as the containers must be off loaded first.

There were no injuries.

TO THE AUTHOR, YOU STATED THAT THESE CONTAINERS WERE “NOT” SECURED. IN YOUR EYES,HOW DO YOU THINK THEY COULD HAVE BEEN SECURED WHILE IN A “DRY BOX”?….THE ONLY THING A DRIVER CAN DO IS PUT A LOAD LOCK ACROSS THE LAST CONTAINER,WHEN LOADED. AND THAT ONLY KEEPS THE LOAD FROM MOVING TOWARDS THE BACK OF THE TRAILER. NOT SIDE TO SIDE. ALL A DRIVER CAN HOPE FOR IS THAT THE FORKLIFT OPERATOR BUMPS EACH CONTAINER TOGETHER,LIGHTLY,WHEN THEIR BEING LOADED IN HOPES OF IT “NOT” MOVING WITH ROAD VIBRATION, SIDE TO SIDE. THEY HAVE TO BE LOADED STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAILER IN ORDER TO BALANCE OUT THE WEIGHT EVENLY….IF YOU WERE THE DRIVER, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY?
