TRAIN / PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT CLOSES CROSSING

About 1130 p.m. Magnolia Police Sgt. Lopez was on patrol when the train passing suddenly started braking. As Lopez reached the locomotive, the conductor was exiting the train and said they had just hit a pedestrian. An immediate search was begun by the train personnel and Lopez as additional units from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and DPS responded. Approximately 20 cars back, they found a 14-year old male lying on the tracks beneath the train.

Magnolia Fire Department and MCHD responded to the scene.

The male was extricated from under the train with a severe hand injury. He was still conscious and talking but appeared possibly intoxicated.

Railroad personnel said he was hit by the locomotive and went under the train.

As of 12:30 a.m. the entrance to Cripple Creek Subdivision remains closed as the incident is investigated.

The teen was transported to Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands.
