At 2:30 Saturday afternoon New Caney Fire crews were returning from the Country West Fire when they spotted another at 15767 Wagon Wheel off Western Hills. A neighbor had been burning household trash when the wind picked up some embers dropping them in the dry grass. The fire spread destroying a Camero and continued on to severely damage two storage sheds on the neighbors property.
The crews called for additional help bringing in a pumper from New Caney and additional trucks from Caney Creek Fire Department.
One of the sheds contents suffered damage when the fire came up through the plywood floor. Firefighters were able to save the building and the four-wheeler inside.
It is illegal to burn household garbage in Montgomery County if you are within a subdivision or on less than five acres.
