At 11:30 Saturday morning New Caney Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Country West Lane near Shaw Circle in the Grangerland area. When they arrived they called for a second alarm as a mobile home had just started burning.
Caney Creek, Needham and River Plantation assisted on it..
According to New Caney’s Chief Jeff Taylor, a homeowner was burning trash when it went through a fence and across the property line. It then started a grass and woods fire which extended to a neighbors mobile home.
The homeowner who was burning the trash in this case or any case is liable for any damages caused by the fire.
The mobile home was damaged mostly on the floor runners under it and the outside wall.. Firefighters were able to stop it there.
Once again Montgomery County Fire Departments are responding to multiple calls around the county. The Woodlands Fire Department has been called on to back into one of the Magnolia stations to cover their area.
Currently at 1:30p.m. Magnolia is assisting Tri-County Fire on Joseph Road with a grass fire. Also they have just called for additional trucks on another grass fire near FM 1486 in which it is reported a homeowner was burning and it got into the woods.
Currently the temperatures in the area are in the mid-70’s with winds gusting to 13mph out of the south and a humidity of 47%. Winds are expected to start gusting up to 20mph this afternoon.
Please refrain from burning at all. With these dry conditions and winds a wildfire can easily start.
