Minor to moderate coastal flooding expected along Bays and Gulf starting now Those elevated high tides are expected to continue through at least early this week. Beyond that will depend on track and intensity of Beta. At these levels some main roads are flooded, also many low-lying areas.
Heavy rain and flash flooding may occur with this slow-moving tropical system. Greatest risk along the TX and LA coasts where Flash Flood Watch has been issued. Although amounts still uncertain and track dependent, locally up to 20 inches is possible.
Gusty winds also expected along the coast, likely to tropical storm force…with the highest winds near landfall, possibly near Matagorda Bay. Can’t rule out hurricane-force winds but this now appears less likely.
